Te Ao Māori

Nau mai Haere mai ki te kura tuatahi o Maunganui

Ka Ngaro, Ka ngaro, Ka ea, Ka ea, Te toka a Tirikawa

I am lost I am lost, I am found, I am found, the rock of Tirikawa is my guide.

This whakatauākī speaks of standing strong in the face of adversity.  In a world that is unknown and rapidly changing,
it is important to hold onto our values and let them guide us, like te toka a Tirikawa.

Our Vision

At Mount Maunganui Primary School, we endeavour to provide rich learning opportunities that connect our tamariki to our rohe through local waiata and pakiwaitara.  Our Mounties have a strong sense of belonging and a strong sense of self.

“I know who I am and where I come from.”

“I know the history of this place I call home.”

Kapa haka

We believe being part of a rōpū kapa haka gives our Mounties the opportunity to develop their confidence in performing in front of an audience. Kapa haka teaches our tamariki the importance of Aumangea – persisting at an activity that is new and challenging, and develops Mahi Tahi – working together and being a part of a team.

All of our learners have the opportunity to experience kapa haka.
